For those of us who have seen an old classmate and said to
ourselves, "Surely, I don't look anywhere near as old as he
does!" Well, I'm sure you will appreciate my story...
While waiting for my first appointment in the reception room of a
new dentist, I happened to notice his credentials hanging on the
wall. There, printed on the certificate, was his full name. I
recalled that there was a tall, handsome boy in my high school
class by that very same name, some 40 odd years ago. I wondered
if by chance they might be one and the same?
After I saw him, I realized that this frail, balding, gray-haired
man couldn't possibly be the same person. This man had deep lines
in his face, and seemed to be much, much too old to have been in
my class. After he had examined my teeth, I asked him if he had
attended the local high school.
He said, "Yes."
"When did you graduate?" I asked.
"In 1957" he answered.
"Why, you were in my class," I exclaimed!
He looked at me closely and asked, "What did you
teach?"
